Growing Apart: a burning platform


Economic prosperity is unevenly shared. Regional inequality is not unique to New Zealand nor new. But the gaps are reaching a crisis point. There are now poverty traps in places with an abundance of opportunity.

Shamubeel Eaqub, Principal Economist, NZIER, discussed economic prosperity, regional inequality and poverty in New Zealand and what we can do about it.

His talk was entitled Growing Apart, and he made a plea for 'place-aware policies'.
