Inside the Office of the Ombudsman
Earlier this year the Chief Ombudsman Judge Peter Boshier released the first detailed data examining the public sector’s response to official information requests. The release, looking at OIA complaints to his office, was part of a wider push for greater transparency in the operation of the OIA.
Judge Boshier spoke about recent developments in the OIA sphere designed to enhance government compliance. “Agencies will try harder to get it right if they know that information about their compliance with the OIA will be published,” he said at the time of the data release.
He also explained changes at the Office of the Ombudsman to strengthen its oversight function.
