There is now a Ministry of Ethnic Communities. You might be thinking, thank goodness, about time! Come and listen to the inaugural CE of this important agency in our public service, Mervin Singham. Mervin has many stories to tell you.

About our Speaker -

Mervin Singham, Chief Executive, Ministry of Ethnic Communities

Mr Singham was appointed Executive Director, Royal Commission of Inquiry into Historical Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-based Institutions in 2018.

From 2012 to 2018 he held a number of executive leadership roles at the Department of Internal Affairs, including Deputy Chief Executive, Stewardship and Organisational Sustainability and Deputy Chief Executive, Strategy and Governance.

Between 2000 and 2004 he was Chief Mediator at the Human Rights Commission.

He was Complaints Manager at the Office of Race Relations Conciliator from 1997 to 2000.

Mr Singham holds a Master of Laws (1st Class Honours), Auckland University and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), University of Canterbury.
