Wahine Maori: Women Who Moved Us

Share an afternoon of korero and waiata with Leonie Hayden (Ngati Whatua o Kaipara, Ngati Rango), Aroha Harris (Te Rarawa, Ngapuhi),Matariki Williams (Tuhoe, Te Atiawa, Ngati Whakaue, Ngati Hauiti), Helen Brown (Ngai Tahu), Melissa Matutina Williams (Te Rarawa, Ngati Maru), Emma Frost (Te Rarawa, Ngati Kuri) and Ria Hall (Ngai Te Rangi, Ngati Ranginui, Whanau a Apanui, Ngati Porou, Ngati Tuwharetoa).

This BWB Winter Series event brings together Maori historians, curators, archivists, and mokopuna to celebrate the diverse history of mana wahine, with a live performance by musician Ria Hall. Representing iwi from Te Aupouri to Ngai Tahu, and from the platforms of Te Kotahitanga to Plunket, inspirational women who have moved and continue to move us are set to be made visible in this year commemorating 125 years of women's suffrage.
