Fees Free: collaboration for the win
Learn how four public sector agencies took a complex new policy from concept to design and implementation in just six weeks.
This seminar provides an opportunity to hear about the agile and pragmatic approach adopted by the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education Commission, Ministry of Social Development and Inland Revenue to meet the challenge of delivering the Government’s First 100 Days’ pledge to make the first year of tertiary education or training fees-free from the start of 2018.
Over six weeks, the agencies worked together to identify and assess options, advise incoming ministers, manage significant risks and funding, and build and launch a new system to implement the Fees-Free policy.
The four agencies went on to win the Prime Minister’s Award for Public Sector Excellence and the award for Excellence in Achieving Collective Impact at this year’s Deloitte IPANZ Public Sector Excellence Awards.
