Digital Government - hopes, aspirations and reality for the public sector workforce

While the public sector in New Zealand is one of the global spearheads in utilising modern technologies for enhancing the quality of public service delivery and policy analysis, the beltway of public sector workers do not really experience any major benefits realisation.

Based on various sources of research and experiences, this seminar will discuss the history and the current situation of digital government in New Zealand with a special focus on the civil servants.

About the speaker

Dr Karl Löfgren is an Associate Professor and Deputy Head in the School of Government, Victoria University of Wellington. He teaches on the master of e-government programme and is currently involved in research on digital governance, big data and data analytics, project management, and public management reforms. Recent publications include contributions to Australian Journal of Public Administration, International Journal of Public Administration, and Asia and Pacific Policy Studies.
