Victoria University of Wellington - School of Government

The School of Government offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programmes in public policy and public management.

Located directly opposite Parliament in Rutherford House on Victoria University of Wellington’s Pipitea campus, the School is ideally situated to help build capacity in New Zealand’s public sector.

The purpose of the School of Government is to contribute to the wellbeing of the people of New Zealand and the world by:

  1. equipping our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to articulate public policy challenges, develop innovative ways to tackle them, and implement solutions in an equitable, effective and efficient manner;
  2. contributing to knowledge and understanding in, and providing an independent forum for discussions on, public policy and management issues;
  3. encouraging good governance; and demonstrating international best practice by connecting and engaging with, and learning from, other Schools of Government.
