Young Professional of the Year Award


The Skills Young Professional of the Year Award recognises excellent performance by a young professional within the New Zealand public sector.It provides an opportunity to acknowledge a young person who has made an outstanding contribution to their organisation, the wider public sector or their community, through the outcomes they have achieved. Note, this Award is not project based.

Criteria

The extent to which the individual demonstrates:

  • excellence in contribution to public administration and management over recent years
  • active use of best practice in their role(s)
  • active support and fostering of other young leaders
  • impact on improved service delivery to their local community or to New Zealand.

The Young Professional of the Year award is open to individuals aged 30 years or less who are currently working in the public sector in New Zealand, or who worked in the sector during the preceding financial year.

The winner will receive a funded placement for a one-week leadership course at the prestigious Mt Eliza Business School in Melbourne.

(The Young Professional of the Year is not eligible for the Prime Minister’s Award.)
