Te Tiriti in policy-making Webinar

While politics around Te Tiriti o Waitangi's application is a hot topic at the moment, the Prime Minister is clear this Government will honour the Te Tiriti. So how does the public sector to do this well? Through the craft of policy-making.

Join us for a webinar where we will take a ‘lessons learned’ approach to the subject of Te Tiriti and its principles in policy-making, focusing on some of the experiences of Ministry for the Environment (MfE) in resource management reform.

Irrespective of decisions from the ongoing political discussions , there will always be a need to provide first-best free and frank advice, a part of which includes undertaking best practice Te Tiriti policy analysis. We hope the lessons learned to date by MfE can offer useful insights for the others in the public sector.

About the presenter

Will Collin (Ngāti Paoa) is a Te Tiriti and te ao Māori policy expert and thought leader. He works as a principal advisor at the Ministry for the Environment, and has previously worked at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment and the Waikato Regional Council. Will has a Master of Public Policy degree, has delivered training courses and presentations on Te Tiriti and its principles and has given a couple of guest lectures on this subject at Victoria University.
