Join the IPANZ New Professionals
Nau mai, piki mai! Our network is for all kaimahi in, or with the New Zealand public service, who are in their first ten years working and would like to know more about how it all works.
Most public sector organisations are members of IPANZ. If your organisation is a member, you are eligible to sign up to attend our events and offerings for free, and attend our training events at a discounted rate.
What We Do
We plan and deliver the New Professionals programme. This involves delivering events, webinars, training seminars, and producing thought leadership pieces and articles for the Public Sector Journal.
Flagship events and offerings
Meet the Chiefs breakfast seminars
At these events, chief executives (CEs) reflect on their careers – often sharing deep insights, helpful tips, and their perspective on what is or will be important. Coffee, breakfast, and the opportunity to quiz a CE – all provided.
Matariki Puanga in Wellington
We take the opportunity to connect, reflect on what Matariki Puanga means for us as New Professionals – and engage in deep kōrero following a Hautapu (dawn ceremony), with kai.
Networking
At these events, new professionals mix and mingle, form connections and get to know what different workplaces and roles are like. While you may come for the free food, you’ll end up staying for the chat.
Training
Public Sector 101 is an online course designed to provide you with a comprehensive introduction to the public sector in just 8 ½ hours over 6 sessions. We cover a lot of ground, and there are sessions on:
- te tiriti o Waitangi
- parliament, legislation and the constitution,
- ministers, officials and the policy process
- parliament's financial cycle, and
- scrutiny and integrity.
